co.lab's collaborator

Gildward is a software developer who founded and currently runs his very own IT company called Madworks Global. It all started about 10 years ago when he saw a gap in the market and developed a school software application aimed at managing student data.

He started out with only one client and today, his program is used by almost 50 schools in Aruba and Curaçao. His other clients include hotels, financial institutions, government institutions and many, many more.

Why I joined Co.Lab

I joined Co.Lab because it seemed like the perfect way to expand my business network. I believe that Aruba, as small as it may be, offers many business opportunities, but the fact of the matter is that as an entrepreneur, it’s not always as easy to create and maintain partnerships. As a small business owner it all comes down to knowing the right people and having the right connections and that’s where the Co.Lab community comes in handy. It really is the perfect place to co-share, co-create and collaborate.

Turning Raw Data Into Gold

What most local companies don’t realize is that they can add strategic value to their organization by making use of Busines Intelligence tools. Business Intelligence is the set of techniques and tools for the transformation of raw data into meaningful and useful information for business analysis purposes. By using tools such as data mining and business dashboards, organizations and government institutions can use existing raw data to help make more informed business decisions.

Take note that all businesses, big and small, create data. It can be anything from a spreadsheet keeping track of sales to a timesheet keeping track of employee work hours. Imagine this: you plant a fruit tree, you nurture it and watch it grow, yet you never pick the fruits once they’re there. Isn’t that the whole point of growing the tree in the first place? This is exactly what happens in a business; it would be a shame to let readily available raw data go to waste and not use it to gain insight into your business practices. When done right, Business Intelligence does exactly what it says it will: It makes you more intelligent about your business.
